Thursday, 04 June 2009 15:50Louis J. Liotti, son of Thomas and Wendi Liotti, signed a professional one-year contract with the San Jose Sharks, an American Hockey League farm team affiliate in Worcester, MA.
“We’re looking forward to developing Louis as an important part of our future NHL teams,” said Tim Burke, assistant general manager and director of player development for the Sharks.
Louis, who graduated earlier this month with a degree in business management, spent four years at Northeastern on a full athletic scholarship. He served as assistant captain of the Huskies, Northeastern’s hockey team. This year, Louis was voted by Hockey East as the Best Defensive Defenseman in the conference and his team finished the regular season ranked second in Hockey East and fourth nationally.
Prior to attending Northeastern, Louis played for the Sioux City Musketeers of Iowa, a Junior A Hockey Team, for two years. He was captain of the team, which was the first runner up for the League’s Championship Clarke Trophy. Prior to that, Liotti was captain of the hockey team at Locust Valley’s Portledge School and captain of Apple Core of Long Beach, which won the Eastern Junior Hockey League Championship.
