The Chiefs 3rd Grade Boys played twice on the road earlier this month. On May 5, they shut out the Lynbrook Titans 4-0 and then on May 8 crushed the Oceanside Sailors 6-1. At press time, their undefeated season record was 5-0.
The game against Lynbrook was a battle from start to finish. The name of the game was defense and scoring was tough to come by. The Chiefs scoring was by midfielder Matt Sluka (2 goals), Michael O’Connell (1 goal, 1 assist) and attackman Thomas Albig (1 goal, 1 assist). Goalie Sean Hembach recorded his first career shutout.
On May 8, the Chiefs went down and spoiled Oceanside’s Lacrosse Day as they sank the Sailors 6-1. The boys worked hard for every ground ball and worked on their passing game. The defensemen were suffocating, led by Michael LaGinestra, Nick Monteforte and Philip Arnold. Chiefs scoring in this game was provided by midfielders Michael O’Connell (4 goals), Jack Duff (1 goal) and defenseman Matt Castello (1 goal, 1 assist).
The boy’s had fun as they all played in both games. Other players who contributed to the wins were Jason Eccher, Matty O’Connell, Darien Lloyd, Marc Chiappone, Joey Ruscillo, Matt Grim, Liam Gormley, Dylan Vincenti and Jack O’Brien.
