The Long Island Fight for Charity, one of the most anticipated events of the year, will host a “Call for Boxers” Kickoff Cocktail Party at the Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage State Park on Tuesday, May 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. Men and women are invited to volunteer to represent their organizations as boxers in the Seventh Annual Long Island Fight for Charity that will take place in the fall of 2009.
There is still time to submit an application to become a boxer. No boxing experience is necessary. Interested individuals need to complete an application, obtain medical clearance and make a commitment to train, attend events and raise funds. For more information on how you or your organization can participate or to get an application, go to www.lifightforcharity.com or call 870-1583. The deadline for application submissions is Aug. 31.
“Our kickoff cocktail party will be very exciting, and we are expecting several hundred people to attend and cheer on the brave individuals who have already volunteered to box at this year’s event. This party will give us the opportunity to introduce and recognize the people who will be making a significant commitment with their time, money and sweat over the next five months,” said Jamie Austin of Austin Travel and co-founder Fight for Charity.
The 2009 Fight for Charity continues to attract significant attention from Long Island’s leading businesses. Over $562,000 has been raised over the past six years and with the continued support from the local communities and businesses, Fight for Charity hopes to raise more money for local charities than ever before.
