Former Carle Place soccer players reunited with old teammates at friends at an alumni soccer game on Oct. 12.
60 former soccer team players, from the Classes of 1985 to 2013, started their day at 9:30 a.m., watching the current Carle Place High School varsity team play against Cold Spring Harbor. As they watched the team play, alumni shared highlights and achievements of their own times on the field.
It was not only a day to commemorate the players who once represented the Carle Place soccer program, but coaches as well. Following the varsity game alumni took part in a LOOP run, a traditional drill that consisted of a long warm-up around the school grounds. After the drill was a recognition ceremony, celebrating the accomplishments of former and current coaches. Each coach was honored with a plaque.
After the ceremony, the athletes broke into small side games that were played all afternoon. The former Frogs were cheered on by former and current players and faculty, coaches, family and friends. Former Carle Place High School principal, Neil Connolly, who retired in 2012, also attended the event.
