Westbury Track Athletes Receive Scholarships

Congratulations to Owen Skeete and Tiara Mitchell, two of Westbury High School’s track athletes, for earning athletic scholarships as a result of their outstanding accomplishments. Skeete earned a scholarship to the University of Indiana, while Mitchell earned a scholarship to the University of New Haven.

Owen Skeete, the lightning-fast long distance runner who was named the Newsday 2010-2011 Runner of the Year, was recruited to be a three-sport track athlete at the University of Indiana, specializing in distance events.

Tiara Mitchell is a remarkable triple jump athlete best known for her jump of 38.2 feet at the State Qualifiers for Indoor Track and Field, which also qualified her to compete at the Nationals.
