Senior Alyssa Bruckner, a CPHS graduate, closed out her career by helping the Muhlenberg College softball team capture the 2011 Centennial Conference Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Bruckner made 19 appearances in the circle for the Mules, tying for second on the team with six wins. She struck out 27 batters and also picked up a save on the year. She allowed just one run in the win over Lesley and became the first Mule pitcher to earn two victories on the same day since 2001 when she picked up both wins against Eastern in the final doubleheader of the regular season.
After tying for second during the regular season, Muhlenberg went 3-0 during the conference tournament, including a pair of dramatic wins over the top seed, to claim their record-tying fifth crown. The Mules then advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in school history and finished with an overall record of 25-17, one win shy of the school record.
