On Feb. 12, the Carle Place Key Club held their 2nd annual Bowlathon in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Forty students gathered at Sheridan Lanes and bowled several games to raise money and awareness for the organization.
JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder of and advocate for type 1 diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
The mission of the Carle Place School District is to provide an education environment in which all students can achieve success and become productive citizens. The Board of Education and administration of the Carle Place Schools believe that strong connections between school and community are extremely important to the success of the students.

Saturday evening, Feb. 5 proved to be a win-win for Westbury Friends School and the New York Islanders. The Second Annual Night With the Islanders sponsored by the Parent/Teacher Council sold over 200 tickets, raising about $1,200 toward the refurbishing of the gymnasium.
The New York Islanders were also victorious, winning the game against the Ottawa Senators. Top student ticket sellers participated in a Zamboni ride and other students were given a ride on the “Fan Zam” while still other students enjoyed sharing “Hi-Fives” with the Islanders, and all the families received an 2010-11 Islanders Yearbook.
