Continuing the tradition, Homecoming at Carle Place High School was a huge success for the School District and community. This two-day event began on Thursday, Oct. 14 with varsity girls’ soccer and varsity volleyball games and concluded on Friday, Oct. 15 with varsity girls’ tennis, varsity field hockey and our fourth annual “Friday Night Lights” football games.
CPHS would like to acknowledge The Dancin’ Place, the Cubs Scouts of Pack 305, the Class of 1970 and 1971, the Carle Place Student Organization, the Carle Place Rock Pep Band and the Carle Place Athletic Booster Club for contributing and sharing in this magical evening.
This year’s theme was “America the Beautiful” and celebrating in this event was newly elected Homecoming King and Queen: Jay Kingston and Dana McLaughlin, respectively.
Some highlights include:
Varsity Field Hockey: Carle Place 5, Wheatley 0. Leanne Iannucci made two saves for the shutout for Carle Place. Taylor Ruscillo, Natalie Guerrerro, Taylor Martello, Bridget Kelly, Deidre Hickey each had a goal.
Varsity Volleyball: Carle Place 3, Glen Cove 0. Nicole Grande had six aces and 19 assists and Jill Flecker had four aces and nine kills to lead Carle Place (10-1) to a 25-14, 25-14, 25-17 victory.
Varsity Football: Carle Place/Wheatley 35, West Hempstead 28. T.J. Christina had eight carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns, adding a 40-yard interception return for touchdown on defense, to lead Carle Place/Wheatley. Richie Alfaro had seven carries for 113 yards and Josh Callirgos had six carries for 55 yards and one touchdown for Carle Place/Wheatley. John Hyland had two carries for 33 yards and one touchdown, adding two fumble recoveries on defense for Carle Place/Wheatley.
