Two CP Students Receive Outstanding Physical Education Awards

Shannon and James represented Carle Place High School and were honored at a dinner at the Crest Hollow Country Club on Monday, Dec. 12 with the Nassau Zone of New York State Association of Health, Physical Education and Dance Outstanding Physical Education Student Award for 2011-2012.

Shannon demonstrates leadership qualities; she has an excellent rapport with her teachers and peers.  She serves as a role model for her classmates, guiding other students and taking initiative.  Shannon exemplifies sportsmanship and good character, which makes her deserving of this award.


Chiefs 10-Year-Olds Win Nassau County Championship

The drought is finally over, for the first time in 20 years the Chiefs 10-year-olds won the title and brought home the 2011 Nassau County Championship. This past Sunday at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, the Chiefs beat the Long Beach Bulldogs 19-7. It was an exciting game, tensions were high, with a county title on the line, but the Chiefs proved to be too much for the Bulldogs in the end.

This brings the Chiefs Dream Season final winning record to 8-1-1.

‘Moms Who Kick’ 2nd Annual Contest for Models for Calendar

Moms Who Kick Inc, a 501(c)(3) public charity that promotes physical fitness & proper nutrition, will provide a unique and empowering experience to all the winners of their 2nd annual Model Mom Contest. The contest is running now through Feb. 29, 2012.

Moms over the age of 18 who live in the Tri-State area are encouraged to enter the contest by submitting photos that reflect their passion for fitness, and a compelling bio of how cancer affects them. Breast cancer survivors and those impacted by cancer through others are eligible to win. All winners will experience a glamorous, professional photo shoot and will be featured in their inspirational 2013 calendar. Moms Who Kick Inc will launch this fundraising calendar during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October 2012, at a gala fashion show that honors the extraordinary women they feature in their 2013 publication.


W.T. Clarke Varsity Cheerleading Takes First Place

W.T. Clarke Varsity Cheerleading Team, coached by Liz Lamac, was recently awarded First Place in the LICCA Cheerleading Competition. The Clarke Varsity Cheerleaders placed first in the Small Varsity Division at the Long Island Lutheran High School competition, sponsored by Long Island Cheerleading Coaches Association (LICCA). The Junior Varsity squad placed third and both groups qualified for the Long Island Championships.

Nearly 100 intercollegiate soccer officials from the five boroughs of New York City plus the suburbs of Long Island and Westchester officiate in the New York Metro Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NYMISOA). Every year, these officials vote on which coaches have displayed the highest amount of sportsmanship during the college and junior college season. Congratulations to Zef Kabashi as the Carle Place resident became the first coach to receive the NYMISOA Sportsmanship Award with two different college programs. He won coaching the Hostos Community College men in 2007 and after resurrecting the Queensborough Community College men’s soccer program this year. Proving that nice guys can finish first, Queensborough won the CUNY Athletic Conference this year.

Westbury Runner Participates In Blue Ribbon 5K Run

Boyd Carrington of Amityville outran Robis Degirmenci of Port Washington to the finish line of the 3rd annual Blue Ribbon 5 Kilometer Run, as 372 runners and walkers were on hand at the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course in Woodbury on Nov. 13. The Integrated Medical Foundation event helped promote men’s health and helps draw attention to the importance of early detection of prostate cancer.

Hofstra Basketball Partners With North Shore Guidance

North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center (NSCFGC) is proud to partner with Hofstra Men’s Basketball at the home game against Manhattan College on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m.

As part of the partnership, Hofstra will donate half of the ticket revenue generated through the NSCFGC back to the organization.  In addition, the NSCFGC will be well-represented throughout the game including a game ball presentation, information table set-up in the lobby, and a public service announcement during the game.
