In February 2002 I went to print with my first issue of The Westbury Times. I remember sitting at my desk and wondering how I was going to cover this cluster of communities I knew hardly anything about.
Now, I sit here trying to figure out how to say goodbye to those same communities I know and love as if they were my own. After eight and a half years of serving as your editor this is my final issue.
My decision to leave was not an easy one. While I am looking forward to spending time with my daughter and embarking on a new career path, saying goodbye to the many wonderful people I have met and the relationships established over the years is a difficult task and one that leaves me – a journalist – at a loss for words.
Maybe that is because words cannot even begin to express how grateful I am to each and every one of you. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives – professionally and personally. Thank you for sharing your stories and enabling me to fill the pages of this paper – your community news source – each and every week.
My successor, Cory Twibell, a Westbury resident and graduate of Carle Place High School, is eager to take the reins and dive in. He can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 747-8282, ext. 116. I hope you will welcome him as you did me.
It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as your voice.
