Nassau County Legislator Robert Troiano (D-Westbury) is pleased to announce a new website – www. coverage4healthcare.com – sponsored by the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC) that helps the uninsured enroll in Medicaid, Family Health Plus and Child Health Plus.
“This new and improved, user-friendly, bi-lingual website helps our uninsured residents to enroll in the public insurance programs offered by NY State. The site is sponsored by the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council (NSHC), the association that represents all Long Island hospitals.”
The Hospital Council, through a grant from the State health department, provides enrollment assistance to the uninsured in Nassau and Suffolk counties. The enhanced website provides one-click navigation to obtain a checklist of required documentation, a listing of upcoming enrollment sites, and contact information for further assistance. About 15 percent of Long Island’s population remains uninsured, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau statistics.
“The Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council has offered its Facilitated Enrollment Program since 2001 and to date has helped 43,133 Long Islanders apply for health insurance. I strongly encourage residents who don’t have health insurance to visit this website and enroll in the public insurance programs that are available,” said Troiano.
Nassau County Legislator Robert Troiano (D-Westbury) encourages members of the public to attend legislative sessions scheduled for 2010.
All meetings are open to the public and allow time for public comment. Legislative sessions are held at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola, at 10 a.m. Committees will meet on days separate from the full legislature days. For start time for committee days, check the Legislative Clerk’s website (http://www.nassaucountyny.gov/agencies/legis/Meetings/index.html) or contact Legislator Troiano’s office at 571-6202.
“We welcome the people of Nassau County to attend the legislative sessions and be part of the governmental process,” Troiano said.
