John Joseph Russell of 135 Post Avenue, Westbury, N.Y. passed away on May 16, 2013. He was 95 years of age. His ashes will be buried in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, DC. Married for 61 years to the late Arlene Muller, he is survived by his four children, seven grandchildren and five great grandsons. John Russell served his country proudly as an officer in WWII and was wounded in combat soon after his platoon crossed the Rhine into Germany. He was a serial entrepreneur who started and ran a number of successful businesses in Westbury, starting with Gyro Brass Manufacturing and ending with Russell Biomagnetics, from which he retired at the age of 88. He loved golf, the trotters and inventing new products for which he held a number of patents including one for an early single handle faucet design, and others for a number of therapeutic magnet applications. John Russell was an eternal optimist who always saw the possible and never let failure sidetrack his dreams. May his positive spirit live on in those he leaves behind.
