Katherine “Jeanette” (Williams) Glier, born Sept. 15, 1911, died on Nov. 14, 2010 at her son’s home in Shelburne, MA.
She spent her youth in Hempstead with her parents, George and Marcella Williams, and her two siblings, George and Marion. She married Gordon M. Glier, moved to Westbury, and had two children, Bonnie Lee (who predeceased her) and Gordon Jr. (Skip).
She worked at Aerolog, an affiliate of Grumman Aircraft in Bethpage. She was a frequent contributor of articles on points of view to the Westbury Times.
Most of all she was a great mother, she showed eloquence in human compassion, an unconditional regard, forgiving, and utmost a positive thinker which may have contributed to her very long life regardless of her physical challenges. She was entertaining and knew how to laugh at herself. She had a warm personality and was always easy to talk with. She was philosophical and worldly.
She is survived by her son, Skip and his wife Joanne, of Shelburne; five grandchildren, Jamie, Seth and Halley Glier of Shelburne, Melissa Marlin of New York City, and Melanie James and her husband Colin of California; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Andrew James; and the Glier ‘s dog, Ramona.
A graveside service is being handled by Donahue Funeral Home, Westbury. Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home in Shelburne Falls/Greenfield assisted with arrangements.
