Paula Scappatura was recently named the new president of the New Cassel Business Association (NCBA).
Scappatura is no stranger to the NCBA, her father co-founded the organization in the early 1980s in an effort to help combat the crime and quality of life issues affecting the community. Over the years, the group has helped to improve street lighting, reduce crime, and raise funds to construct a police booth in New Cassel.
According to Scappatura, the NCBA’s main goal is to help businesses keep New Cassel safe and clean, watch for vagrancy and to reach out to the residential community for input on issues affecting them. Her goals as president include improving the streets of New
Cassel and increasing involvement with the residential community.
“We’re kind of like a wingman for businesses,” Scappatura said. “And we want to keep crime down and act as watch guards. We want it to be a safe environment for people and children to walk through, and we’ve done a good job on it so far.”
Scappatura has been a real estate developer for 40 years, and credits her father, Frank Scappatura, founder of Scappy’s Auto Body, for teaching her everything she knows about business.
