The Nassau County Police Department said Fay, who resided in Westbury, was operating a 2012 Kawasaki Ninja 250R motorcycle heading south on East Gate Boulevard when he struck a 2000 Ford E-450 box truck being operated by an unlicensed driver, Kevin Kizzie, 45, of Brooklyn.
Kizzie, who detectives said was driving with a suspended New York State license, was traveling eastbound on North Avenue and made a left turn onto East Gate Boulevard, where Fay couldn’t avoid the vehicle and struck the rear portion of the truck, throwing him from his motorcycle. After Fay was transported to a local hospital, a staff physician pronounced the 19-year-old deceased at 10:30 a.m.
To his classmates, Fay was known as a free spirit, a loyal friend and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.
“You just wanted to be around him and be his friend,” read a post on Fay’s Facebook wall.
He was a competitive wrestler and team captain at Carle Place High School, where his coaches say he was a two-time Nassau County finalist. Fay, an avid sports fan, enrolled at Nassau Community College after graduating from Carle Place in 2010 and would have turned 20 on June 6.
Kizzie is being charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
