The Third Squad reports the details of the arrest of four men for an attempted robbery that occurred on Sunday, June 26 at 12:31 a.m. in Carle Place.
According to detectives, a 30-year-old male victim was riding his bicycle home after exiting a Long Island Rail Road train at the Carle Place station when several males walking toward him confronted him.
One subject walked in front of the victim’s bike forcing him to stop and the other subjects surrounded the victim and began to pull his backpack off his back, said police. The victim, an off-duty New York City Police Officer, identified himself, drew his service weapon and ordered the subjects to the ground, detectives noted. The subjects did not comply but fled the scene on foot without proceeds and the victim, who did not sustain any injuries, called 911 at 12:50 a.m., police added.
Defendant Kevyn Bustamante, 19, of Carle Place, was apprehended at Westbury Avenue and Stonehenge Lane. He was arrested and charged with Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree and Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree.
Further investigation lead to the arrest of Michael Tursi, 19, of Westbury; Christian Anglarill, 19, of Carle Place, and Al Ramclam, 21, of Mineola. These defendants were arrested at their residences and were charged with Attempted Robbery 2nd Degree and Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree. They were arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on June 26.
