Long Island Blood Services will be having a blood drive at 1200 Prospect Avenue from 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. To be eligble, you must bring an ID with signature or photo, be atleast 110 pounds, be atleast 16 (age 76 or more need a doctor’s note). The community at large is invited to Community Reform Temple’s Family Fun Day. There will be lots of food and plenty of games including a 3-legged-race and balloon bursting contest. Hicks Nurseries will be celebrating 160 years of providing quality plants to families and businesses at their Fall Planting Kick-Off Sale from 11 a.m to 4 p.m. Free hotdogs as well as old-time favorites will be available for only 160 cents each including vintage soda, lemonade, popcorn and their famous roasted corn. Enjoy the foot-stomping sounds of “Goodtime Charlie’s Ragtime Band” from 12 to 3 p.m. There will also be several photo displays throughout the store from the archives, showing how Long Island’s oldest family owned nursery has evolved througout the years.
