Bicycle Rodeo 

The Westbury Public Safety Commission, Recreation Department, and Nassau County Traffic Safety Board will sponsor a bicycle rodeo for children ages five to 14. The event will be in the parking lot of the Westbury Recreation Department at 360 Post Avenue, from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will receive a helmet and other fun bicycling gear and learn about bike safety. In order to participate, you must come with a bicycle and be pre-registered for the event. Registration forms will be available at the Parks and Recreation Office.

National Night Out 

The North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center, Town of North Hempstead and New Cassel/Westbury Community-Wide Partnership will be holding National Night Out, which celebrates a safe and healthy community. There will be a parade at 5 p.m. at the Salvation Army at 992 Prospect Ave., and festivities begin at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park at 6 p.m. at Broadway and Railroad Street. Come out for a night of music, education, health screenings, refreshments, games, arts and crafts, give a ways and more!

The Eddie Torres Mambo Kings Orchestra 

 Eddie Torres, also known as “The Mambo King”, is a salsa dance instructor. He has been dancing and teaching salsa for over four decades, and through his dance school, has taught thousands of people and  notable entertainers such as Delille Thomas (Mambo D), Wilton Beltre (founder of the Santo Rico Dance Company), Adolfo Indochea, and Seaon Brystol, how to dance salsa in his own distinctive style. Through his close working relationship with Tito Puente, Eddie has kept the Mambo dance alive performing internationally with his wife, Maria, creating an ensemble known as “The Tito Puente Dancers.” At the Old Westbury Gardens. Gates open at 5 p.m., there will be a dance lesson at 6:30 p.m. and the concert starts at 7 p.m. General admission is $10, $8 for members and seniors 62 and over, and free for those under 17.
