Part of the Village of Westbury’s Free Summer Concert series. The concert, takes place at Piazza Ernesto Strada at the corner of Post and Maple Avenues. Starts at 7 p.m. Rain date July 12.
An eclectic group of performers join cellist Suzanne Mueller under the majestic 153-year-old Beech Tree near the West Porch of the Westbury House (or Red Ballroom in the event of rain) at Old Westbury Gardens. 3 p.m., free with admission.
Attendees of this concert at Old Westbury Gardens will step back in time as bandleader Vince Giordano recreates the sounds of 1920s and 30s jazz and popular music. Giorgano and the Nighthawks have been featured on the soundtracks of several movies such as Fred Coppola’s The Cotton Club, The Aviator, Revolutionary Road and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Gates open at 5 p.m., there will be a dance lesson at 6:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for 62 and older, $8 for members, and free for children 17 and under.
