LI Mozart Festival
Presented by Chambers Players International on May 26, 27 and 28 at Old Westbury Gardens, 71 Old Westbury Road, Old Westbury. The festival features performances of the music of Mozart and other classical masters by an international array of artists as well as Debbie Surowicz’s award-winning program Mozart for Children on May 26 starting at 11:30 a.m., an instrument making crafts table, music in nature programs, a musical petting zoo and tours of Old Westbury Gardens. The Mainstage concerts are as follows. May 26: Grammy-nominated violinist Anastasia Khitruk performing Mozart and Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano with pianist Elena Baksht. 2:30 p.m. May 27: Performers will be the WYA U.N. Chamber Orchestra, with pianist Philip Edward Fisher. Works to be performed on these concerts include Mozart’s Divertimento in F major, Divertimento in D major, KV 136 and Piano Concerto No. 27, 595 in Bb, along with J.S. Bach’s Double Violin Concerto and Brandenburg Concerto #3. 1:30 and 4 p.m. May 28: Featured performers will be violinist Anastasia Khitruk and pianist Elena Baksht, who will present Mozart and Beethoven Sonatas for violin and piano. 1:30 and 4 p.m.

Memorial Day Parade/Services
Carle Place American Legion Post 1718 will hold its Annual Memorial Day parade and services. The parade will step off at 10 a.m. from Jamaica Blvd. between Glen Cove and Roslyn Aves. It will proceed east on Westbury Ave., stop at the corner of Westbury Ave. and Rushmore Ave. for a service at the Carle Place American Legion memorial. At the conclusion of this service, the parade will proceed east on Westbury Ave. for a service at Carle Place Memorial Park on the corner of Westbury Ave. and Carol Rd.

A Night of Improv
The Sarah Grace Foundation For Children With Cancer, Inc., will hold its 2nd Annual Theatrical Fundraiser, “Unrehearsed: A Night of Improv,” at 7 p.m. on June 1 and June 2 in the Hicksville United Methodist Church Social Hall, 130 West Old Country Rd., Hicksville. The family-oriented show will be similar to the popular improvisational comedy television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? The Garden City Historical Society is holding its 7th Annual Flea Market on Saturday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is an ideal time to do some spring cleaning and weed through furniture you don’t need and have no use for. All proceeds benefit the Garden City Historical Society.

Michael Amante In Concert

Plastic Recycling Program
Home gardeners are asked to collect and sort plastic garden pots, cell packs and trays, shake out all soil and rocks from the containers and remove metal hangers, rings or other foreign materials before dropping them into the recycling bin at Hicks Nurseries, 100 Jericho Tpke., Westbury, through July 15. The drop-off bin is located in the customer pick-up/loading area. All plastic containers collected will be recycled. Only garden plastics will be accepted. No household plastics, no food plastics, no clay pots, no soil, no metal plant hangers and no plastic bags. This service is open only to retail customers and is not for commercial or landscaper use. St. Brigid’s Attic Thrift Shop
The Attic Thrift Shop (178 Post Ave., Westbury), which helps to support St. Brigid’s Outreach Program, is seeking donations of gently used clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and children. Donations of household items including bedding, cookware, dishes, flatware, lamps, pictures, decorative household items and bric-a-brac also accepted. Only small furniture items can be accepted. Furniture Needed
The A.T. Stewart Exchange Consignment Shop, 109 Eleventh St., Garden City, is looking for furniture to add to its inventory. The shop can use cocktail tables, end tables, consoles, chairs of all types, dressers, dining room tables, breakfronts, servers, secretaries, mirrors, etc....it’s all in demand. If you have a particularly large piece, take a picture, and show it to Kris or Jill at the shop (516 746-8900). Consignees get 50 percent of the selling price. Parking is convenient because the shop is located on the lower level of the Garden City Historical Museum.
