Victoria Caruso-Davis, editor of The Westbury Times, was recognized by the New York Press Association (NYPA), garnering an award in its 2008 Better Newspapers Contest.
Victoria won third place in the "Best News or Feature Series" category for her articles on SCO Family of Services' proposal to operate the Westbrook Preparatory School out of St. Brigid's vacant convent. In issuing the award, NYPA noted that Victoria's "masterful, even-handed presentation of the autism issue no doubt contributed to the impressive community response."
Established in 1853, NYPA is the trade association representing the community newspapers of New York State, including weekly, small daily and culturally-specific papers.
