Four Northeastern University men's hockey players were honored in Hockey East's first round of award announcements March 18, including senior Louis Liotti of the Sioux City Musketeers who was named Hockey East Old Time Hockey Best Defensive Defenseman.
Liotti has been a force on the blueline for the Huskies over his four seasons. He had two goals, five assists and a plus-8 rating in 26 Hockey East games this season. Overall, he had a 3-9-12 scoring line and was plus-12 in 38 games. In his career, Liotti is plus-17 although Northeastern opponents scored 44 more goals over Liotti's four seasons. He has played in 144 career games, just one away from the NU record of 145. He is a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, given to New England's best American-born Division I hockey player. Liotti is the second NU player to be named Hockey East Best Defenseman after Tim Judy in 2004-05.
