We at the Girl Scouts of Nassau County want to extend a big 'thank you' to our community for making this year's Cookie Kickoff on Jan. 10 a huge success! We could not have done it without your help and support.

Because of your dedication to the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, more than 3,800 boxes of cookies were purchased by Long Islanders during the kickoff. Special thanks go to the Broadway Mall, Green Acres Mall, Roosevelt Field Mall and Westfield Sunrise for hosting our kickoff events.

In addition, the Cookie Kickoff also gave us the opportunity to re-launch Operation Cookie, a way for us to send a "taste of home" in the form of Girl Scout Cookies to our military troops overseas. Your donation of more than 150 boxes of cookies is a great start and we hope to surpass last year's donation of 30,000 boxes with your continued help.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is far from being over. The Girl Scouts of Nassau County will be selling cookies until March 30. We ask that you continue to support us throughout the end of cookie season by keeping those cookie orders coming and by spreading the word about Operation Cookie. The Girl Scout Cookie Program helps 'pay the way' for girls to experience fun activities, summer camp and even overnight trips. Each box of cookies cost $3.50 of which 75 percent of the purchase price goes back to the girls in the form of direct services.

This year, your support is imperative, especially in these current economic times! No girl is turned away from Girl Scouts of Nassau County because of an inability to pay, Cookies help us ensure that we can continue to offer Girl Scouting in Nassau County. We're excited that you still love our Girl Scout cookies. Even our newest cookie addition, Dulce de Leche, has been a huge hit!

More importantly, we appreciate that you still support our organization that builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Please keep an eye out for your local Girl Scout in your neighborhood or Girl Scouts at local malls, train stations, grocery stores and more. We've made it even easier for you to find your nearest Cookie Booth with our Cookie Booth locator. Simply log on to our website, www.gsnc.org, and click on the link. And don't forget, by treating yourself to one of our delicious cookies, you help girls throughout Nassau County get the opportunity to experience the fun and joy of Girl Scouting.

Many thanks.
