Residents took to the polls on Dec. 9 to cast their votes in several special district elections. The results are as follows:
Joanne Del Vecchio, who ran unopposed for another three-year term as commissioner, was re-elected. Del Vecchio received 35 votes.
One seat was up for grabs on the Carle Place Public Library Funding District's (CPPLFD) Board of Trustees as a result of current trustee Michael Fitzgerald not seeking re-election. Peter Prommersberger, who once sat on the board, garnered the seat with 53 votes. A write-in candidate earned four votes.
Lawrence Zaino Jr. was re-elected to a second, three-year term as commissioner. Zaino, who ran unopposed, received 57 votes. There was also one write in.
In East Meadow, Carey Welt defeated challenger Michael Finnegan in the race for fire commissioner. Welt received 1,069 votes; Finnegan received 253 votes.
In the race for water-fire commissioner, William Olson was re-elected to his fourth, three-year term. Olson, who received 255 votes, defeated Joseph Pascarella, Sr., who garnered 126 votes.
