I hope this letter finds you and your families well and ready for a great holiday season. I am writing this letter to welcome you to Relay for Life 2009!

Relay for Life, the American Cancer Society's (ACS) signature fundraising event, is an overnight celebration of hope, progress and awareness. At this time, friends, families, neighbors, teams and coworkers are encouraged to form teams and walk along the Carle Place High School track to raise funds and awareness about cancer while celebrating the lives of those who have had cancer, remembering those who have lost the battle and those fighting back against the disease.

Next year's Relay for Life will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Carle Place High School. We are going to have a theme this year - baseball.

The holiday season is a great time to see friends and family so start recruiting teammates and when thinking about your team's name, think baseball!

In order to make next year's Relay a bigger success than 2008's, we are going to need some more energetic volunteers. In addition to having teams there are committees in place to help coordinate various parts of our event. The committees consist of: activities, entertainment, opening/closing ceremonies, luminarias, publicity, sponsorship, hospitality, survivorship, registration, raffle and advocacy.

Organizing the 2008 Relay was such a rewarding experience. Seeing everyone's hard work and visions come to fruition, as well as meeting and working with so many wonderful people, was an experience that everyone should have!
