Highlighting the Oct. 21 general meeting of the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC) was the presentation of a check in the amount of $3,000 to Long Island OCEANS to assist this important support group in the battle against ovarian and other gynecological cancers. The check came from the proceeds of the 2008 Arrow Exterminating Company Long Island Women's Run, and was presented by Arrow Exterminating co-Presidents Jackie Grabin and Debbie Tappan and Run Director Rosemary Camilleri of the GLIRC. The good folks from Arrow Exterminating then added another $1,200 donation of their own, making a total of $4,200 presented to Long Island OCEANS.

"There really is no better beneficiary than Long Island OCEANS for an event that is staged for women only," said Camilleri. "It was our real pleasure to be able make this donation, and we sincerely appreciate the generosity of Arrow Exterminating Company that made it possible. We were especially thrilled to have Arrow's Jackie Grabin use the meeting to announce that the company would be back as the title sponsor of this important event for women in 2009!"
Arrow Exterminating Company is Long Island's largest woman-owned business, so its support for this event and this charity are also naturals. Not only is Arrow Exterminating an effective and economical pest control organization, but since 1947 it has proven to be environmentally sensitive and an industry leader in protecting public health and property. Workplace Challenge and these two charities serves to re-emphasize its commitment in this regard.
