In their 2008 season finale, the 7-year-old Chiefs played on the road and beat the Farmingdale Hawks 19-6, to finish in first place with a record of 7-1.

The Chiefs offense, along with quarterback Michael O'Connell, were able to move the ball because of great blocking by the offensive line which was centered by Joe Martello and anchored by lineman Kevin Parente, Patrick McTiernan, Matty O'Connell, Anthony Giunta and Spenser Warantz. Strong runs by Running Backs Matt Sluka, Lance Costa, Thomas Albig, Jason Eccher and Philip Arnold helped the Chiefs offense control the ball all day long.

The defense was intense, making gang tackles all over the field. The defensive line of Dylan Vincenti, Michael LaGinestra, Steven Mushorn, Jack Nichols, Nicholas Vitanza, Jack Duff and Aidan Hornberger kept the pressure on Farmingdale's offense all day. Linebackers O'Connell and Sluka were fearless as they attacked the ball. The defensive backs finished the job; they were led by Andrew Casoria, Matt Grimm and Kieran Hendry.

The entire Mineola 7-year-old team and coaching staff showed outstanding character and sportsmanship. All the boys played and participated in the victory. Scoring is summarized below:

• Matt Sluka: 17-yard touchdown run (xpoint failed)

• Michael O'Connell: 35-yard touchdown run (Matt Sluka xpoint run);

42-yard touchdown run (xpoint failed)

The 11-year-old Chiefs White played at Bellmore on Nov. 2 at night under the lights and pounded the Bellmore Braves 33-12. This brings their record to 6-2 entering the playoffs.

The Chiefs offense was able to roll because of solid blocking by the offensive line of Andrew Hastings, Michael Delio, Lucas Golon, Philip Ciuffo, Michael Husch, Steven Gessner and Gavin Dowd. Chiefs quarterback Thomas O'Connell was able to control the ball by completing passes to Justin Johnson, Brian Smith and Blake Hargrove, and also with the help big runs by running backs Thomas Davis, Ryan Eccher and Peter McCormack.

The Chiefs defense dominated the game. The defensive line of John Clancy, Matthew Lafaye and Luis Costa kept the pressure on the Braves offense. Linebacker Thomas O'Connell intercepted Bellmore's quarterback twice in the second half to seal the game. Scoring is summarized below:

• Ryan Eccher: 8-yard touchdown run (xpoint failed)

• Thomas O'Connell: 40-yard touchdown pass to Justin Johnson (Brian Smith xpoint run); 35-yard touchdown pass to Justin Johnson (xpoint failed)
