The Westbury Green Dragon Girls Varsity Volleyball team put together three wins in a row during the month of September.

The victorious week began with a 3-0 (25-8, 25-9, 25-14) win over Roosevelt on Sept. 15. Jameila Grant led Westbury with 19 assists and Nancy Guevara dominated with her serving skills with 9 aces. The second victory of the streak came against Wheatley on Sept. 17 with another 3-0 win (25-10, 25-10, 25-16). Outside hitter, Marlene Ricketts led the way with 5 kills while senior Nancy Guevara added 7 aces. The third victory to complete the winning streak was versus Valley Stream North on Sept. 19. This match was a 5-game battle that Westbury prevailed in by winning the last two games after being down 2-1 to secure a 3-2 victory (26-24, 20-25, 26-28, 25-17, 25-16). Again Marlene Ricketts dominated at the net with 5 kills and Nancy Guevara posted 7 aces. This victory places Westbury at 3-3 in Conference V.

The girls are coached by fourth year Head Volleyball Coach Michelle Brock, who is also a high school physical education teacher at Westbury High School. The team has steadily improved under her direction, as has the participation level for the sport of volleyball with full rosters at the varsity and JV levels.
