Ronald S. Fisher, of Carle Place, died on Sept. 10, 2008 at the age of 62 after a year-long illness. He is survived by Wendy (nee Bowlend), his wife of 39 years, who grew up in Manhasset; their daughter Sharyn Gray; son-in-law Douglas Gray; and granddaughter Aurora Gray, who reside in New Mexico; and son Gregory Fisher of Vermont and his fiancée Mary Agan. Other relatives including two sisters and his father, all of Delaware; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fisher was a graduate of Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, earning a BS degree in education. Drafted by the Kansas City Athletics baseball organization, he spent two years in the minor leagues. He subsequently taught for several years in Delaware and Maryland before moving to Long Island in 1971, where he earned a master's degree in education at Adelphi U. He went on to teach for 35 years in the Great Neck Public School system, mostly at North Middle School where he taught sixth grade math. He also coached baseball, football and lacrosse at the junior high level and was involved in PAL and local youth sports programs.
Mr. Fisher was a certified pool operator and managed swimming pools in Great Neck and Queens as well as serving for 18 years as pool director of the Mineola Community Swimming Pool, where he introduced many new programs and features.
Visiting hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19 at the Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, Post Ave., Westbury. A brief service will be held there on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Greenfield Cemetery in Hempstead.
