Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced last week that a jury found Adrian Williams guilty of robbing a Westbury Bank of America branch and then assaulting the bank's manager when he intervened in the robbery.
A jury took less than three hours to find Williams, 42, of Westbury, guilty of robbery - 2nd degree; assault - 2nd degree; and grand larceny - 4th degree. He faces up to 15 years in prison and will be sentenced Sept. 9.
Rice said that on the morning of April 25, 2007, Williams entered the rear entrance of the Bank of America, located on Post Avenue, jumped behind the counter and stole $7,120 from the teller registers. While on his way out, the bank manager intervened and grabbed him. The two men fought, eventually reaching the rear of the bank, when other employees assisted the manager and held Williams down until police arrived. The manager suffered minor injuries.
"Mr. Williams learned that robbery and assault will not get you rich, but that they will send you to prison," Rice said.
Assistant District Attorney Anna Acquafredda of the DA's County Court Bureau is handling the case for the DA's Office. Williams is being represented by Dana Grossblatt, Esq.
