A draft Nassau County Department of Investigations report has found that Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers and supervisors broke state law when they did not fully investigate an abuse complaint against 27-year-old Leatrice Brewer, the New Cassel mother charged with killing her three children back in February. Brewer, who made the 911 call herself, is being held at Nassau County Correction Center in East Meadow and awaiting a psychological evaluation for a possible insanity defense in the drowning deaths of 6-year-old Jewell Ward, 5-year-old Michael Demesyeux and 18-month-old Innocent Demesyeux. See next week's Westbury Times for the complete article.
