The Carle Place Boys Varsity Track and Field Team defeated Friends Academy May 19 to garner its ninth consecutive Division 4B Championship.

Despite getting off to a rough start, the team finished the 2007-2008 season 9-4 to beat out division rivals Wheatley, Oyster Bay, Malvern, Friends Academy and Cold Spring Harbor. The Carle Place team, which is coached by Bob Tanner, has won the title every year since 2000.

Congratulations to the coaches and members of the Carle Place Boys Varsity Track and Field Team, including:

Seniors: Michael Sims (jumps), Ryan Lee (jumps), Patrick Long (hurdler), Erick Cardoso (sprinter), Brendan Reardon (sprinter), Mike Ferreira (hurdler), Mike Kamhi (sprinter), Ed Kim (distance runner), Chris Shaw (weights), Mario Abbatiello (weights) and Marco Duarte (weights).

Juniors: Eli Moore (sprinter), Henry Lam (sprinter) and Brian Deignan (sprinter).

Sophomores Chris Barbosa (middle distance/jumper), Brian Spangler (distance runner), David Feldt (sprinter), Dom Vergata (hurdler), Anthony Pizza (middle distance), D'Andre Ellerbe (weights) and Ryan Hughes (weights).

Freshman Mike Nieves (middle distance), CJ Maday (distance) and Todd Offermann (weights).
