On behalf of the board of education, the staff and, most importantly, the students of the Westbury School District, we thank you for voting in favor of the proposed budget.
In approving the budget, you have recognized the accomplishments our students continue to make in terms of improved test scores, graduation rates and overall academic achievements - and for that we are all exceptionally grateful. Your support also ensures Westbury's students will continue to have access to high-quality, innovative educational programs and extra-curricular activities that will provide them with the skills necessary to become successful, productive citizens we can all be proud of.
While recognizing the fact that not all residents favored the proposed budget, please be assured that the administration and Board of Education remain aware of our taxpayers' concerns, especially those on fixed or limited incomes, and that we will continue to provide our students the finest public education, while aggressively controlling costs and seeking grants and other funding sources whenever possible.
The community's support of the budget for the 2008-2009 school year is a strong statement about Westbury's deep concern about its children's education and I am confident that our students will continue to respond with the tremendous academic successes they demonstrate each day.
