Four Vie for Two Trustee Seats: Westbury Board of Education Elections May 20
Election for the Westbury Board of Education will take place Tuesday, May 20. At this time, incumbent Adelaide Brinson is seeking re-election; current trustee Connie LoCascio chose not to run. As a result, Brinson and three other candidates - Stan J. Ercolano, Rocco Lanzilotta and Laura Pierce - are seeking election to two open seats. Elections in the Westbury School District are at large and trustee terms are three years.

Local Budgets Up for Vote May 20: Westbury Proposes $98.7M Spending Plan
Residents of the Westbury School District will take to the polls May 20 to vote on the proposed 2008-2009 spending plan of $98,724,521, a $7,195,072 or 7.86 percent budget-to-budget increase over the current year's contingency budget of $91,529,449.

Okinawa Karate Students Earn Junior Blackbelts, Senior Brownbelt
On April 15, two students from Westbury Okinawan Karate successfully tested for their Junior Blackbelt at an associated dojo in Hicksville. Franklin Rodriguez and Quentin Abram of the Westbury dojo joined other students from the Hicksville and Little Neck dojos to become the second and third students from Westbury to reach the Junior Blackbelt rank.

Dee Snider's 6th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride May 18
Event to Benefit the March of Dimes --
On Sunday, May 18, motorcyclists will join Dee Snider (radio personality and lead singer of Twisted Sister) and the March of Dimes in the fight against premature birth at Dee Snider's 6th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at Town Park at Point Lookout located on Lido Boulevard in Point Lookout. Bikers will hit the open road at 11 a.m.
