The Mineola PAL Chiefs 5th Grade Boys Lacrosse Team went on the road to Huntington the weekend of April 26-27 and beat the Huntington Blue Devils 4-3. The team is coached by Mineola High School coaches Mike Perro, Chris Grimm and Brian Grodotzke.

Once again the offense of Mineola's Midfielders controlled the game. Midfielders Thomas O'Connell, James Gerstner, Peter McCormack, Brian Smith, Kyle Dunleavy and Michael Elefonte passed the ball around the field and hustled to every ground ball. Chiefs Attackmen Chris Lockwood, Dominic Paggi and Patrick McGowan kept the heat on the Blue Devils Goalie all day long.

The defense of the Chiefs, led by Gavin Dowd, Chris Asam and Jake Connors, were mean and ferocious every time a Blue Devil came into their zone. Connors also made heads-up plays at midfield keeping the possession and ball on the offensive side of the field so the Chiefs Midfielders could control the ball and score. Goalie John Clancy once again was solid in front of the cage while making saves. Other players who contributed in the win were Gerard Boniello, Trifon Boniello and William Berger.

The game scoring is summarized below:

Thomas O'Connell, goal (unassisted)

Dominick Pagg, goal (assist by Chris Lockwood)

Mikey Elefonte, goal (assist by Chris Lockwood).

The Mineola PAL Chiefs 5th Grade Boys Lacrosse Team played at home May 4 and beat the Hewlett Bulldogs 7-4 in front of crowd of screaming fans at Hampton Stadium. It was a battle of two undefeated teams. The game was like a Super Smash Brawl.

Midfielders James Gerstner and Kyle Dunleavy battled hard and contributed to the domination of the Bulldogs on groundballs while attackmen Dominick Paggi, Chris Lockwood, William Berger and Patrick McGowan once again kept the heat on Hewlett's defense and goalie.
