Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 11:15 p.m.

According to detectives, four young men, ages 17, 19, 20 and 21, exited Don Juan's Restaurant on Old Country Road after attending a teen night in the restaurant's La Boom Club. As the men entered their vehicle in the rear parking lot they were allegedly ambushed by two to three subjects who fired gunshots into the vehicle. The subjects fled the scene in an unknown direction prior to police arrival.

The victims were transported to area hospitals. As of press time, two of the victims were listed in critical condition with one undergoing surgery and a third listed in stable condition. A fourth victim, 17-year-old Edwin Jovani Mejia-Alvarado of Westbury, was killed.
