Back in December, Carle Place High School's Boys Varsity Basketball Team participated in the Coaches vs. Cancer basketball tournament, which was held at Herrick's High School. In addition to the Frogs, the four-team tournament featured teams from New Hyde Park, Herricks and Sewanhaka High Schools.
In this annual tournament, players and coaches from all four schools fundraise to help the American Cancer Society (ACS) and, for 2007, Carle Place High Schools Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Stu Raphael called on Dr. Marisa Silver from Plainview's In The Zone Personal Fitness to help with fundraising.
" I have been a patient of Dr. Silver's for a year and when I asked for her assistance she immediately became a team player," said Raphael, adding that Dr. Silver helped the Frogs purchase 100 T-shirts, which allowed the team to raise $1,000 for the American Cancer Society. "We really appreciate her act of kindness and the shirts made our team effort a winning one!"
