Former Westbury resident Yetta (Weissbluth) Waldman passed away on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 at her home in Slingerlands, outside Albany.

School Districts Urged to Apply for Millions Available for Pre-K Programs
Several members of Fight Crime: Invest In Kids New York, including Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and Hempstead Police Chief Joseph Wing, recently visited Rainbow Chimes, an early education center in Huntington, to urge school officials to apply for pre-kindergarten grants before the application deadline passes. While there, they sat with a class of pre-kindergartners and read them the story, Officer Buckle and Gloria.

Swim-A-Cross Tweaked for 2007
Nearly 200 swimmers, ranging in age from 8 to 78, took the plunge into Oyster Bay Harbor Aug. 18 for the 18th Annual Swim-A-Cross at Centre Island Beach. The event is held each year to raise funds for the American Red Cross in Nassau County and many local residents took part in this year's swim, including Lilly Glickman of East Meadow and Taliana Alexandra of Westbury.
