On Aug. 9 at 4:55 p.m., the Westbury Fire Department responded to a report for a house fire on Madison Street, just off School Street. First arriving units found heavy fire and smoke coming from the second floor rear of the house.

Long Island Riptides will hold tryouts for its elite travel fastpitch softball team on Saturday, Aug. 25 at Cantiague Park's Field A and B. Tryouts for 14U will take place at 10 a.m. on Field A; tryouts for 16U at 10 a.m. on Field B; and tryouts for 12U will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Field A.
