Voting on the Carle Place School District's proposed 2007-2008 spending plan will take place Tuesday, May 15. At this time, residents will have the opportunity to vote for or against Proposition #1, which is the proposed spending plan of $40,803,990, a 5.95 percent or $2,292,636 increase over the current year's budget of $38,511,354. In addition, there will a second proposition on the ballot that would provide the district nearly $470,000 tax-free through the Expanding our Children's Education and Learning (EXCEL) grant. On April 22, Westbury Okinawan Karate conducted its first Shidokan Karate Tournament. Westbury Okinawan Karate, a Westbury Village Recreation Department program now in its fourth year, held the tournament in the Village's Sports Center on Post Avenue and competitors include those from both the Westbury dojo and its related Hicksville dojo.
