The Westbury girls' bowling team had another successful season placing fourth in their conference this winter. The countywide final standings for Nassau placed the girls' varsity team 14th out of 42 teams.
Sophomore Shelby Kilgore was ranked fifth out of the top 50 girls in the county and was selected to compete on the States All Star team where she finished second with a high game of 264. Shelby received the All County Award and sophomore Christina Davis received the All Conference Award. Shelby also competed with all 11 sections from New York State finishing fourth, only being beat out of third by 46 pins.
"It has been an honor to coach this team for the past 12 years," said head coach Camille Lupa. "I truly admire these young ladies for their talent, dedication, maturity, and respect for themselves and the game."
The varsity team was named to the New York State Public High School Scholar Athlete team this past season. In order to receive this honor, teams must achieve at least a 90 percent grade point average.
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association created the Scholar Athlete Team distinction more than a decade ago. Honors are awarded each season for the fall, winter and spring sports teams in association with the corresponding marking periods and are based on team member submissions.
