McCarthy to Seniors: Check Your Medicare Plan
Senior citizens who have prescription drug coverage through Medicare Part D are being encouraged to check the plans they are currently enrolled in for possible changes in 2007. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy is urging seniors to look into what plan is going to best serve their needs in 2007.
NUMC Receives Stroke Center Designation From NYSDOH
Arthur A. Gianelli, president/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC), joined by various state and county officials, members of the Emergency Medical Services community and staff, announced at a press conference Dec. 7 that the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has designated Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) as a stroke center.
Felix A. Urrutia Jr. Police Athletic League's New Executive Director
Felix A. Urrutia Jr., of Carle Place, has been appointed the new executive director of the Police Athletic League (PAL). PAL is New York City's largest, nonprofit, independent youth organization. Urrutia is a seasoned community and youth development professional with 17 years of experience in both the not-for-profit and government sectors, including eight years at PAL. He has also worked extensively in progressive management and academic consulting. Urrutia was appointed executive director by Robert M. Morganthau, the PAL's chairman of the board of directors and New York County District Attorney and Robert J. McGuire, PAL's president and former police commissioner.
Carle Place Little League Registration
Carle Place Little League will hold registration for baseball, softball and T-ball on Thursday, Jan 4 and Tuesday, Jan. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Carle Place Middle School cafeteria. Uniforms will be sold at registration. Coaches, grounds maintenance, sponsor committee, picnic, all-star day, etc. volunteers are needed and sign-up sheets will be available at registration. There will also be a sign-up sheet for boys and girls who wish to umpire.
