More than 100 student-athletes were honored during Westbury High School's Fall Athletic Awards Night on Nov. 28. The well-attended program recognized the dedication and achievements of student-athletes from the Varsity and Junior Varsity Football, Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Cross Country and Varsity Cheerleading teams.
Westbury Director of Athletics Doric Capsis extended his appreciation to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Constance R. Clark, the administration, board of education, parents, community members and district staff members who have worked collaboratively with the athletic department in building a solid athletic program that emphasizes the importance of an academically strong student-athlete.
"I am very proud of how the students handled the academic challenges that were presented this season," said Capsis. "They performed like champions on the field and in the classroom and represented our district with pride and respect."
The athletic department congratulates all students-athletes and coaches who participated this season, with special commendation to the students who were awarded "All Conference" and/or "All County" honors. In addition students from each team were presented with special awards such as "Most Valuable Player" (MVP) and "Most Improved Player" (MIP) in recognition of their outstanding efforts.
