Elections for commissioners of the Carle Place Water District, Westbury Water and Fire District and the East Meadow Fire District took place Dec. 12. The results are as follows:
In Carle Place, current chairman Joseph M. Passariello ran unopposed and received 62 votes, garnering a three-year term commencing Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2009. Lawrence F. Zaino, Jr., who was appointed in January by the North Hempstead Town Board, received 58 votes. He will serve from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2008. Timothy E. Stellato, who was appointed by the North Hempstead Town Board in January 2006 to fill the remainder of the late Robert T. Heller's seat and also ran unopposed, received 58 votes. He will serve from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2007.
In Westbury, current water-fire commissioner Robert Culbert, who ran unopposed, was re-elected to a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2007 through Dec. 31, 2009. Culbert received 30 votes.
In East Meadow, incumbent commissioner James Surless was re-elected to a five-year term. Surless received 748 votes defeating Michael Finnegan, who received 112 votes. In addition, Raymond L'Hommedieu, who ran unopposed as treasurer, received 707 votes.
