Gina's Giants are back at it again! Craig Adams of East Meadow is organizing a team to walk in the2007 MS Walk at Jones Beach in honor of his wife Regina (Gina), who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis three years ago. The walk is scheduled to take place May 6, 2007.
For 2006, Gina's Giants was such a success it doubled the size of the largest team MS Walk had ever seen and drew attention from all over New York State. Gina's Giants grew to 167 people and collected over $13,000 in donations for the MS Society. The team even had their own T-shirts complete with logo and bearing the motto "Donating is Easy, Showing Up Says You Care."
According to Craig, forming the team and getting the support "wasn't that hard. Gina's such a wonderful person that people came out of the woodwork to join. I even told people not to go crazy collecting money because I had already collected more than I thought possible." He continued, "Can you imagine what we can do this year now that I actually know what I'm doing?"
This year's team also managed to drum up some commercial sponsorship as well with their T-shirts, refreshments and rain gear were provided by Vitamin Water, Causeway Bait and Tackle and the Fraternal Order of Police. According to Craig, a few more companies have already shown an interest in supporting this year's team and he hopes that with their help, as well as that of the community's, Gina's Giant will bring national attention to the MS WALK this year.
Craig is planning to hold a post-walk party along with a 50/50 raffle in which proceeds will benefit the MS Society. Gina's Giants needs volunteers to help with the organizing and setup as well as monetary support for the party.
