Senator Michael Balboni recently announced that Westbury Village will receive a $250,000 economic development grant from New York State. The senator made the announcement last month at the Village BID's annual street fair.

Introduced by Mayor Ernest Strada, Balboni spoke about the enormous turnaround of the village during the last five to 10 years, especially in its revitalized downtown. He thanked and congratulated the mayor and his administration for accomplishing such a great deal and reinvigorating the village.

"Michael is a great friend to the village. He has come through for us before, which is one of the reasons why we have been able to get so much done, and now he came through again," said Strada.

Balboni said he is "pleased to bring home state dollars toward this community beautification project that will soon be completed and available for all the residents of Westbury to enjoy."

The $250,000 in economic development money will be used to fund capital improvements that help to continue the rebirth of Westbury Village. In addition, according to Balboni, the Senior Citizens of Westbury, Inc. will receive a $30,000 grant to support programming.
