Breast cancer survivors and current patients are invited to experience the benefits of exercise through the free Paths to Wellness Program of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program on Nov. 1, 6 and 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Adelphi University in Garden City.
Participants will learn basic exercises to improve strength, balance, coordination, mood and energy levels, plus basic exercise and routines that can relieve symptoms of lymphedema. The program includes diaphragmatic breathing and flexibility training.
The instructor is Margaret Bores, a licensed physical therapy assistant, exercise specialist, certified personal trainer and health and fitness instructor, as well as a breast cancer survivor.
It is not necessary to come to all three sessions, although for maximum benefits, it is recommended that participants attend all three as they build upon each other. Registration is required. Call 877-4325.
This program is open only to breast cancer patients and survivors. It is sponsored by a grant from The New York State Department of Health, Community Based Cancer Support Services.
