Special Olympics New York-Long Island Region will be hosting its fall classic, presented by DataDevice Corporation, on Sept. 16 at Cantiague Park in Hicksville. In the true meaning of sportsmanship, athletes will be competing in soccer, softball, golf, tennis and cross-country running. Everyone is welcome to attend and show support of these wonderful athletes.

Come and watch the courage and determination of over 500 Special Olympic athletes as they participate in the various athletic events. Over 2,000 athletes, volunteers and spectators are expected to attend this competitive event.

In true Olympic tradition, opening ceremonies begin at 9:30 a.m. with a heart-warming parade of athletes. Help kick off the day's events and be there to cheer on the athletes throughout the day. In addition to the competitions, there will be an Olympic Village hosting fun-filled activities for everyone.

Special Olympics New York-Long Island provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-style sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with other athletes, their families and the community.
