On July 20, Westbury Village, Mayor Ernest Strada appointed William B. Wise as trustee to fill a vacancy on the board. Wise will serve in the seat formerly held by Charles R. Russell, who passed away in April. A longtime resident of Westbury, Wise has been a member of the Village Zoning Board of Appeals for over 25 years. He will run during the 2007 village elections to serve the remainder of Mr. Russell's term, which expires in 2009.
In appointing Wise trustee, Westbury Village Mayor Ernest Strada said, Certainly, Charles R. Russell will be missed, but Bill is very well-qualified and prepared to fill the role of trustee. He has provided long service to the village [and] has a tremendous amount of support by his community, neighbors and friends as was evidenced by their appearance at his swearing-in ceremony on July 20." Strada added, "I personally and the members of the board of trustees look forward to working with Bill as we advance in the future."
