Wise Appointed Village Trustee
On July 20, Westbury Village, Mayor Ernest Strada appointed William B. Wise as trustee to fill a vacancy on the board. Wise will serve in the seat formerly held by Charles R. Russell, who passed away in April. A longtime resident of Westbury, Wise has been a member of the Village Zoning Board of Appeals for over 25 years. He will run during the 2007 village elections to serve the remainder of Mr. Russell's term, which expires in 2009.

LI Girls Hockey Team, NYS Champs
The Long Island Girls Hockey Team won the gold medal at the New York Empire State Games, which took place recently in Rochester. In capturing the gold, the team defeated New York's Central 4-3 in the first final game and had a 4-1 record. The girls, for the first time since the sport was added to the Games in 1999, defeated top teams from the Western and Central divisions. Prior to this year's win, the team had only garnered a bronze medal back in 2001.

2006 Long Island Walk to D'Feet ALS at Eisenhower Park
On Saturday, Sept. 30 in Eisenhower Park. The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter will host its annual Walk to D'Feet ALS. Registration is open at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m.
